LONE STAR NIL to support two Texas collegiate golfers at national amateur events

December 28, 2023

Jordan Karrh and Davis Ovard, both from Frisco, set for Florida and Arizona tournaments

FRISCO, Texas – LONE STAR NIL, the exclusively Texan name, image and likeness opportunity, will support two Frisco collegiate golfers, Jordan Karrh of Dallas Baptist and Davis Ovard of Baylor, at two upcoming national amateur championship tournaments in the New Year.  Both Karrh, a TCA-Addison grad, and Ovard, a Frisco High School alum, are part of the recently announced LONE STAR NIL student-athlete ambassadors’ program.

Karrh, a junior who helped lead her Dallas Baptist squad to the 2023 NCAA Division II Women’s national championship, will participate in the 2024 Women’s Orlando Invitational Amateur, Jan. 4-6, at the Mission Inn Resort’s El Campeon and Las Colinas courses. Mission Inn Resort & Club has hosted more than 20 NCAA regional or national championships, including the 2019 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championships. Entry into the Orlando Invitational is limited to 180 of the world’s top amateur competitors who will play 18 holes each day before a cut after the second round.

Ovard, in his freshman year at Baylor, will face the field at the 2024 Saguaro Amateur, Jan. 8-10, at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz. In addition to the annual Saguaro Amateur, other premier events at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes have included multiple PGA Tour Qualifying school stages, annual U.S. Open qualifying, and the 2015 Southwest Section PGA Professional National Championship. The Saguaro Amateur, considered as an established national amateur golf championship, is a 54-hole, no-cut event.

“We are thrilled to support Jordan and Davis in these prominent amateur tournaments ahead of their spring collegiate seasons,” LONE STAR NIL Founder/CEO Tom Burnett said. “Both Jordan and Davis have proven themselves to be tremendous competitors through their junior and college careers, and it will be exciting to see them compete against top U.S. and international competition early in the New Year.”  Karrh and Ovard will provide insight into their preparation and daily play with a number of social media updates before, during and after their tournament experience.

Both Karrh’s and Ovard’s performances will factor into their individual World Amateur Golf Rankings, the official men’s and women’s amateur golf rankings determined by assessing performance at thousands of worldwide amateur golf tournaments and championships. Karrh, a four-time collegiate individual champion, will resume her spring collegiate season with DBU on Feb. 19 at the Southern Invite in Spring, Texas.  Ovard, who recorded multiple wins at the Big 12 Match Play Championships in October, is scheduled to resume collegiate play with the nationally ranked Bears on Feb. 19 at The Prestige, held at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.

LONE STAR NIL, based in Frisco, was founded in 2023 as a unique, independent name, image and likeness opportunity for Texas-based student-athletes enrolled at in-state universities and colleges. For more information, click on www.LoneStarNIL.com or email at contact@lonestarnil.com.
